BayPoint questions
Where does BayPoint run?
On your own computer or web host. You install it once, and every PC, tablet and phone in the shop opens it in a web browser. Your customer, vehicle and sales data stays on your system.
Do customers really approve work from their phone?
Yes. The estimate text carries a private link. The page shows each recommended line with Yes and No buttons, the inspection report and, when the car is ready, a Pay button. Approvals land on the repair order in seconds.
Can I take card payments?
Yes, with your own Stripe or Square account. Cards are entered on the processor's secure page, so card numbers never touch your computer. You can also record a card taken on your own terminal.
Where do the labor times and parts come from?
From the shop's own suppliers. Connect PartsTech (one connection covers most vendors, plus labor times and tire comparison) or Nexpart (NAPA, AutoZone, Advance and other distributors); the catalog opens inside the repair order with the vehicle loaded and the cart comes straight back onto the ticket. Price files from any vendor can also be imported, and the built-in labor guide is yours to edit.
How does the license key work?
After you pay, your key appears on screen and in your account here. Paste it into BayPoint under Settings, License. The program checks in with this store about once a day; a copy without a valid key keeps working but is marked UNLICENSED SOFTWARE and cannot update.
Does it do more than one location?
Yes. Each location has its own bays, drawer and inventory; customers, vehicles and history are shared. Plans are priced per location.
BenchPoint questions
Where does BenchPoint run?
On your own computer or web host. You install it once, and every PC, tablet and phone in the shop opens it in a web browser. Your customer and sales data stays on your system.
Does it only work for phone repair?
No. It was designed around phones, electronics and computers, but the Dictionary page renames every label. There are starting points for auto repair, jewelry and watch, bicycle and appliance shops.
Can I take card payments?
Yes, with your own Stripe or Square account. The customer's card is entered on the processor's secure page, so card numbers never touch your computer. You can also just record that a card was taken on your own terminal.
How does the license key work?
After you pay, your key appears on screen and in your account here. Paste it into BenchPoint under Admin, Settings, License. The key carries your business name, your plan and its end date. BenchPoint also checks the key with us online from time to time, so it needs an internet connection now and then.
How do I get new versions?
Open Admin, Settings, Updates. BenchPoint checks for a newer version, shows what is new, and installs it after you confirm. It backs up the current program files first. Updates need a current license and an internet connection.
What happens if my license runs out?
BenchPoint keeps working, so you are never locked out of your own data. Until a current key is entered, screens and printouts are marked as unlicensed and new versions cannot be installed.
How do I renew?
Buy the same plan again using the same business name. The new time is added to the end of your current key and you get a fresh key to paste in.
What is the White label plan?
It removes the BenchPoint name and footer so the software carries only your shop's branding.
Can it keep track of where a device is on the shelf?
Yes. Each job has a shelf or bin that is set at check-in and can be changed from any screen. It prints on the claim ticket and the asset tag, and you can search by bin. Parts have bin locations too.
What do I need for the customer-facing screen?
Any second screen that can show a web page: a monitor plugged into the counter PC, or a tablet on a stand. Open BenchPoint on it, press one button, and it becomes the display. Slides, videos, banners and the thank-you message are set up in Admin.
What does the Workflow automation add-on do?
It lets you write rules without code: when something happens to a job (checked in, status changes, a part arrives, it sits too long, it is past its promised date), check a few conditions, then act: assign a technician, change the status or priority, text the customer or staff, add a checklist or a note, tag the job, or pop a notice on the counter screens. You can also require things (a technician, photos, a signature, a finished checklist) before a job can be moved to a status. It comes with a library of ready-made rules. Buy it with your license or add it later from your account; the rules screen unlocks after the program checks its license.
CounterPoint questions
Where does CounterPoint run?
On your own computer or web host. Install it once, and every register, tablet, phone, kitchen screen and TV in the building opens it in a web browser. Your sales, menu and staff data stays on your system.
Do screens time out?
No. Registers, kitchen displays, the TV menu board and the host stand stay awake as long as the page is open. You can turn on a custom screensaver and fullscreen under Settings if you want them.
How does the drive-thru work?
Pick one window or two in Settings. With two, the order taker sees the speaker queue, the pay window sees what is owed, and the pickup window sees what to hand out. Lane times show on each screen and in reports.
Can I take card payments?
Yes, with your own Stripe or Square account. Pair a reader for tap, chip and swipe, or use the processor's secure page for pay-at-table links. Card numbers never touch your computer.
How do breaks and clock-ins work?
Set the rules once: minimum hours before a break, break length, paid or unpaid, and whether early or unscheduled clock-ins need a manager. The clock-in screen appears the moment someone signs in, and the break reminder pops up when it is due and locks that person's screen until the break is over.
How does the license key work?
After you pay, your key appears on screen and in your account here. Paste it into CounterPoint under Settings, License. The program checks in with this store about once a day; a copy without a valid key keeps working but is marked UNLICENSED SOFTWARE and cannot update.
Does it do more than one location?
Yes. Each location has its own floor plan, drawers and inventory; the menu, staff and reports can be shared. Plans are priced per location.
FleetPoint questions
Is FleetPoint cloud software?
No. You install it on a PC in your office or on a web host you choose. Your data stays in your database and you can back it up with one click. You can reach it from anywhere if you put it on a web host.
Can it import my FedEx or Amazon files?
Yes. Settlement statements, service scorecards, Amazon DSP scorecards and route summaries import from CSV or Excel. Columns are matched automatically, you confirm once, and FleetPoint remembers the mapping.
Does it do payroll?
It prepares pay from dispatch days, stops and hours and exports a file in your payroll provider's layout. Taxes and payment stay with your provider.
How do drivers use it?
On their phone's browser. They see a simple portal: inspections, fuel, issues, their route, messages, announcements, time off and their documents.
What about cameras and GPS?
FleetPoint imports event exports from Netradyne, Lytx and Samsara into driver safety scores. Live GPS is an add-on that uses the driver's phone.
Is there a limit on vehicles or users?
Plans include a number of stations and vehicles; sign-ins are unlimited on Professional and above. You can move up at any time.
How do updates work?
Settings → Updates checks the store, downloads the signed update and installs it with your program files backed up first. Your data and settings are never touched.
SalePoint questions
Where does SalePoint run?
On your own computer or web host. You install it once, and every register, tablet and phone in the store opens it in a web browser and stays in sync. Your product, customer and sales data stays on your system.
Can I use it on an iPad or a phone?
Yes. Any current browser works. The register adapts to phone screens with a sticky cart bar, and tablets keep the cart beside the product grid.
Can I take card payments?
Yes, with your own Stripe or Square account. Cards are entered on the processor's secure page or a paired reader, so card numbers never touch your computer. You can also record payments from a terminal you already own.
Does it handle sizes and colours?
Yes. A product has options such as Size and Colour; SalePoint builds the variants with their own SKUs, barcodes and stock, and the register shows them as a grid.
How many registers can I run?
As many as your plan includes; the Standard plan covers a store location with its registers and staff sign-ins. Add another location with the add-on.
What does the online store add-on do?
It publishes the products you mark as listed to a storefront on a subdomain or your own domain, with pickup and shipping, coupons, reviews and three themes. Orders arrive at the register in Online orders, and stock is shared.
Can staff see the expected cash when closing?
No. Cashiers count the drawer and see only balanced, short or over. Managers and admins see the expected amount and the difference.
Will it post to QuickBooks?
Yes. Connect QuickBooks Online in Settings and post each day's sales as a sales receipt; house-account sales post as invoices.
